How to add a recipe’s ingredients to a list
Last updated
Every saved recipe has an Add button. You choose which list, set how many people you are cooking for, untick the ingredients you already have at home, and the rest is added to the shared list in one step, sorted by supermarket aisle.
Put a recipe on the shopping list
- 01
Open the recipe and tap Add
Open any recipe from the Recipes tab. The Add button sits with the cooking time and the servings, above the ingredients.
- 02
Choose the list
The sheet opens on “Add ingredients to a list”, with a List selector at the top. Pick the shared list you want the ingredients to land on — the weekly groceries, or whichever list the people you shop with are on.
- 03
Set the servings
Use the minus and plus next to the servings count to match how many people you are cooking for. The ingredient quantities follow, so you are not doing the arithmetic in the shop.
- 04
Untick what you already have
Every ingredient has a tick box, and the hint under the title says it plainly: choose a list, untick what you already have. The salt, the olive oil and anything already in the cupboard come off here.
- 05
Add the rest
The button at the bottom counts what you selected — “Add 10 items”. Tap it and the app confirms with “Added 10 items to Groceries”. Everyone on that list sees the items appear straight away.
Worth knowing
- Ingredients that match a product in the built-in catalogue arrive with the product’s icon and its aisle, so the list stays sorted the way you walk the shop. Anything the catalogue does not know is added as plain text under Uncategorized.
- If everything from the recipe is already on the list, the sheet says “Everything is already on the list” rather than adding duplicates.
- You can add the same recipe to more than one list, and you can add it again later — the app only offers what is not already there.
- Tap Cook on a recipe to keep the screen awake and cross out each step as you go.
