Groceree vs ReciMe: an honest comparison
Last updated
ReciMe and Groceree do the same core job: share a TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or Facebook post into the app and get a written recipe back, even when the recipe is only said in the video. Both give five free imports a week. They differ in what surrounds that: ReciMe adds a meal planner and a web app; Groceree, a grocery list each person in the household shares from their own account.
ReciMe is the bigger and older of the two, with more than 300,000 ratings on the US App Store. If you are weighing them up, the deciding questions are usually whether you plan meals on a calendar, and whether more than one person shops from the list.
This page is written by the team behind Groceree. The ReciMe facts come from ReciMe’s own help center, website and app store listings, checked on October 4, 2026.

When ReciMe is the better choice
There are clear cases where we would point you at ReciMe instead.
- You plan meals. ReciMe has a free weekly meal planner with breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack slots; Groceree has none.
- You want to work from a computer. ReciMe has a web app in beta and a Chrome extension for saving recipes; Groceree is phone-only.
- You want more around the recipe: a nutrition calculator, an assistant that answers questions about the recipe you are reading, and sending the list to an online grocery partner, mostly on ReciMe Plus.
- You want the most proven option. ReciMe has been importing recipes from social video for longer, for a far larger user base.
When Groceree is the better choice
And the cases where we think Groceree is the better fit.
- More than one person shops. In Groceree everyone has their own account on a list shared by link, and changes show on every phone straight away. ReciMe’s advice for sharing is to sign in to one account on every device.
- You scan cookbooks without paying. In Groceree a photo of a printed or handwritten recipe is an ordinary import on the free tier; in ReciMe, cookbook and handwritten scanning is part of ReciMe Plus.
- You want cooking mode for free. Groceree’s cooking mode keeps the screen on and lets you cross off steps on the free tier; ReciMe’s step-by-step mode is part of Plus.
- The recipe is on screen rather than spoken. Groceree watches the video itself, reading the quantities shown on screen as well as listening; ReciMe describes reading the caption and the audio.
- You use the app in a language ReciMe does not have. Groceree runs in 13 languages, including Italian, Dutch, Russian, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Finnish; ReciMe runs in five.
The short answer
If you plan the week on a calendar or want to work from a computer, ReciMe is the more complete product. If several people shop from one list, you scan cookbooks, or you cook in a language ReciMe does not offer, Groceree is the better fit — and both are free to try with five imports a week.
Common questions
- Do ReciMe and Groceree both import TikTok recipes?
- Yes. Both read the post’s caption and, when the recipe is not written there, turn to the video: ReciMe to its audio, Groceree to the video itself, sound and on-screen text. Both give five free imports a week.
- Can I share ReciMe with my partner?
- ReciMe’s help center suggests signing in to the same account on each device, and its collaborative cookbooks are on iOS only. In Groceree each person keeps their own account and joins a shared list or cookbook from an invite link, on iPhone or Android.
- Can I move my ReciMe recipes to Groceree?
- There is no direct import. Recipes you saved from public posts and pages can be shared into Groceree again from the original link.
- Is Groceree cheaper than ReciMe?
- Both are free with five imports a week. ReciMe Plus is $39.99 a year in the US and also unlocks scanning, cooking mode and unit conversion. In Groceree scanning and cooking mode are free, and Groceree Plus removes ads and makes imports unlimited.
