Turn any recipe into a shopping list
Last updated
Groceree saves recipes from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, any recipe website, a photo of a cookbook page, or text you paste in. It reads out the ingredients with their quantities and the steps, then puts what you still need onto a shopping list your whole household shares.
Most recipes people mean to cook are saved somewhere they will never be found again: a bookmarked reel, a screenshot, a tab left open on a phone. The ingredients rarely make it onto the shopping list, so the dish quietly never happens. Saving the recipe and writing the list are the same action here, which is the part that makes it stick.
How people use it
The reel you saved and never cooked
You see a thirty-second pasta video, tap share, and pick Groceree. The app watches the video and reads what goes in it, so you get the ingredients with quantities and the steps written out, instead of scrubbing back through the clip with wet hands. From there the ingredients you are missing go onto the list in one tap.
Cooking from a website without ten tabs open
Recipe sites bury the method under a long story and a wall of adverts. Share the page into Groceree and you keep the part you need: what to buy and what to do. The saved recipe stays in the app, so the next time you cook it you are not searching for the page again.
A cookbook page, photographed
Point your camera at a page of a cookbook or a handwritten card and share the photo into the app. It reads the ingredients off the page the same way it reads a video, which is the only practical way to get a family recipe into a shopping list without typing it out.
Questions about saving recipes
- Which apps can I save recipes from?
- TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook posts, any recipe website, a photo of a printed or handwritten recipe, and text you paste in. You share into Groceree the same way you would share to any other app.
- What if the recipe is in another language?
- The recipe is saved in the language it was posted in, with a Translate button that puts it into the language you use the app in, and a setting can translate every import automatically. A Spanish reel becomes a recipe you can read and shop from in your own language, with the quantities kept as they were.
- Do I have to add every ingredient to the list?
- No. When you add a recipe to a list you see its ingredients with tick boxes, so you untick the salt and the olive oil you already have and only the rest is added, sorted by supermarket aisle.
- Can the rest of the household see the recipes I save?
- Only the ones you share. Put recipes in a cookbook and share it with an invite link, and everyone who joins can open them, cook from them and add their ingredients to a list. Recipes outside a shared cookbook stay yours alone.
- Does Groceree plan meals for the week?
- No. Recipes are saved so you can cook and shop from them; there is no weekly planning calendar. If scheduling meals across a week is what you need, an app built around a meal planner will suit you better.
